Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) made easy with Envirolink Northwest
With help from Envirolink Northwest two renewable energy companies have now made regional firsts and have become MCS accredited this summer. Jacob Eco Energy Limited has become the first (MCS) accredited installer of Photo Voltaics (PV) in Manchester and Sustaburn are the first renewable energy installer to achieve MCS for biomas in the North West.

Envirolink Northwest Low Carbon Garden goes from Green to a spectacular Silver Gilt
Envirolink Northwest is now the proud owner of a Silver Gilt Medal, which was awarded by the RHS for our Tatton show garden yesterday afternoon. Pip Probert the North West based garden designer has achieved a Silver Medal for two years running and wanted to improve on this for herself and Envirolink Northwest at this year’s RHS Tatton Show.

Envirolink Northwest shows gardeners how to grow green
Envirolink Northwest has worked with Pip Probert, award winning North West garden designer from Outer Spaces, to create the Envirolink Northwest Low Carbon Garden for the RHS Show Tatton Park. The garden showcases renewable energy and recycled products sourced from local suppliers, and demonstrates how easy it is to incorporate these greener products into any garden, landscaping or building scheme.

Envirenergy North West 2010 – attracts over 400 delegates
On the 24th June this year’s Envirenergy turned out to be a huge success attracting a record 440 delegates and 49 companies exhibiting at the event. Envirenergy North West 2010, managed by Envirolink Northwest is the region’s flagship energy and environmental management conference presenting innovative technologies and best practice.

North West’s first Trade Recycling Centre to provide recycling opportunity for region’s SME’s
Work began at the end of March on the development of the North West’s first Trade Recycling Centre (TRC) in Haydock that will provide small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) with a viable, cost effective opportunity to recycle their waste via a chargeable bring facility.

NWDA provide £2 million to develop innovative carbon reducing technologies
Working alongside Envirolink Northwest, the Grant funds for carbon reduction technologies will be available to companies working in a number of categories including waste treatment and recycling, water pollution, air pollution, land remediation and energy generation and efficiency.

Wind energy boost for north of England to the tune of £3 million
The Northern Wind Innovation Programme (NWIP) has announced the names of companies participating in newly formed consortia set to benefit from a share of £3 million, specifically aimed at stimulating innovation and technological developments for the offshore wind industry in the North of England.

Windfarm submitted to City Council
Community Windpower Ltd is delighted to announce their Claughton Moor Community Windfarm planning application has been submitted to Lancaster City Council. Claughton Moor Community Windfarm is proposed for Claughton and Whit Moor, approximately 5km east of Caton and 10km east of Lancaster and would stand alongside the existing Caton Moor Windfarm which has been present in the Forest of Bowland AONB for the last 15 years. The application is for 20 wind turbines which will generate up to 50 megawatts (MW) of clean, green, locally sourced electricity.

Envirolink Northwest supports UK first in processing of post-consumer PVC waste
Envirolink Northwest has provided vital support to a Manchester-based recycling company for the development of unique machinery designed to process post-consumer PVCu waste. PVC Recycling Ltd approached Envirolink Northwest for assistance with a project to transform the shred of recycled PVCu materials into a product fit for UK manufacture, diverting materials from landfill by turning them back into product which can be used to make fencing, gate posts and windows from recycled material.

Changing of the guard at SWIG
The secretariat for the Sensors for Water Interest Group (SWIG) has transferred to Envirolink Northwest with the baton having been handed over on 1st September 2009. SWIG is a national membership organisation that focuses on sensors for water and wastewater treatment processes and for natural waters, such as rivers, lakes and the marine environment.
